Love Sex Aur Dhokha Music Review: Gandi Achchi Lagti Hai
Magik Review March 13, 2010 at 7:06 pm Print
Disclaimer: I don’t usually write music reviews, but I make an exception this time, as I have been severely hit by a musical bazooka co-crafted by Dibakar Banerjee (lyrics) & Sneha Khanwalkar (Music).

Love, Sex Aur Dhokha, since the day of its announcement has created ripples and has been creating khalbali among film-lovers across the board. What is strange is that the movie is up for release next week & the album has just come out! With an album like this, delaying the music release is a tremendous waste of potential. Had the music been unleashed a month in advance, the ‘Emosanal Atyachaar‘ magik would have been re-created. Having said that, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that this album will have a long life of its own, beyond the destiny of the film itself.

So getting on with the task at hand, am still trying to collect myself after being blown into a million pieces by the genius of the creators of the music & the impact was multiplied 100 more times by the vocals delivered by, yes, please roll the drums, Allah ka banda, who perfectly delivered the ganda for LSD, Kailash Kher. His Sufi-bathed voice takes the album to an altogether elevated loft.

The earthy-groovy-pacy sounds that Sneha Khanwalkar brings in her music are so trippy that any bohemian back-packer would, in principal, bow down in respect. Her musical journey that began with DB’s OLLO has now evolved into a musical genre of it’s own. The delight of wanderers, the soul of the travelers, the trip of the trippers (whatever that means) and on & on…
Tujhe goli .. maarunga, meri jaan .. bachaungaTujhe godh sulaunga, teri neendh udaungaSaans ye meri bhaamph hai baby garam agan ka jhokaKaatke rakh doonga agar tune judne se rokaLove sex aur dhoka darling, love sex aur dhoka…
If this is not madness then don’t know what is. No wait I know what is. The other song that has had me totally sold:
Tu gandi achchi lagti hai, tu bandi achchi lagti, tu tali si machchi lagti hai…
Holy fuckin’ son of Quickgun Murugun, now that is insanity on a mad overdrive may be on some serious substance (LSD?). I was having a discussion with one of my seniors, way back when I was a tiny tugboat in the big bad ocean of advertising, about the song penned by Prasoon Joshi “Saanson ko saanson mein ghulne do zaraa”. May be I was depressed or it was the lack of ‘action’ I reacted saying this song roughly translates to ‘Me Tarzan, you Jane, we fuck‘. I lost all respect I had gained in the first few weeks. Thank God I didn’t get thrown out, but I still remember the ‘looks’.

Achcha lagta hai
Okay, back to the album it has 8 tracks, 2 of which are from Kailaasa, but with a twist. Actually I am torn between what is better in this album:the lyrics, music or vocals. The fact is that it’s a rare occasion where everything has fallen into place & what we have is an album that will hold its place of pride, rubbing shoulders with other classics of our times like Dev.D, Kaminey, OLLO and other such.
Not to take away from Sneha Khanwalkar, but I think the edgy-shady feel that envelopes this album is thanks to the lyrics. Sample this:
Main saat janam upwaasa hoon, main saat asmandar pyaasa hoon, jee bhar ke tujhko pee loonga, tu gandi achchi lagti hai…
or try this
Main na jaanoon kya sharam haya, tujhe jaan ke main sab bhool gaya, jo kehte hain ye qufr-khata, qaafir kya hain unko kya pataa…
And this is just one song that I am going ga ga about. You have to savour the song ‘I can’t hold it’. Though it may sound or feel engliss over here, at this moment, once you lend the song your ears, kill me dead if you don’t experience a journey to vintage, ghee-laden dal-bhaati-churma rich Rajasthan-Marwar. Khamagani saa! And did I hear ‘Eff O’ in this song? If so, that’s another first. Mhaara standing ovation kabul ho saa!
Guess now I should spare you the ‘explicit’ details as by now you would have understood / guessed how much the music of LSD rocks or at least how well it worked for me. Well, let me just say that if you are one of those who have ‘Jugni‘ and / or Tu Raja ki Raj Dulaari and / or Hooriyan permanently on your play list, this album will knock you off your socks, for sure. Add the thump & groove to your weekend…
Wishing you all loads of love, sex but no dhokha. Tags: , , , , , , ,

The lyrics the lyrics and the lyrics. This starts a new wave. And of course the magic woven by Sneha Khanwalkar and Kailash Kher. I wud not call the package an instant fell in love kind. It takes a few scratches to reveal some real gems in this soundtrack. I’ll say it again the bloody lyrics.

Yep… & Sneha Khanwalkar goes in adventure overdrive. The not-afraid-to-experiment attitude she’s brought to this album is amazing! But she’s also the cause of my ass parked in the driveway by Biwijee because I did this: http://passionforcinema.com/club/topic/love-sex-aur-dhokha-soundtrack-is-this-kicking-butt-or-what

You know I’m very surprised that this movie is coming out next week.. i mean dibakar banerjee has two hits behind him which went way beyond majority of indie movies and there is just no publicity or hype surrounding this movie..when one considers that oye lucky got so much marketing and was such a big hit, it’s just surprising that they did no publicity whatsoever…

Unfortunately Oye lucky isn’t a hit, because it release exactly the week when 26/11 happened. Abd after that Rab ne banadi godi came… its a big DVD hit though… this is as far as i know…

Tu Gandi could have been a lot better but the tune let the song down big time. It won’t be anywhere near the popularity of Emosonal Atyachaar!

Correct me if i m wrong but didn’t Sneha Kanwalkar started her music career from RGV’s ‘GO’? But she got the much needed appreciation from OLLO.
All I got to hear from LSD till now is the title track and more than the lyrics, I think its the tune which is catchy. And then comes the words “Love, Sex aur Dhokha darling… Love, Sex aur Dhokhaaaaa!!”.A doper’s delight!

The lyrics are magical..they are out of the world..and i guess they would make far more sense once you watch the movie..every line in every song can be read differently..superb!!! I loved the Bollywood Style Romance..Tu gandi acchi lagti hain..think about it..the original lyrics were ” tu nangi acchi lagti hain”…also sneha is in full form in “I Cant hold it”..and then she so innocently says ” FO..FO..FO”..i guess it meant FuckOff…i am in love with sneha..please marry me!!!!!

Yeh apparently censor board rejected the lyrics ” nangi achchi lagti hai…”. However, according to some news team LSD has changed the lyrics only in album, in the movie they have retained the ‘nangi…’ verison..

‘I cant hold it’ has taken hold of me BIG time. A mad combo of turn tables and flute with an energetic Sneha makes this a winner. Would love to know the meanings of the lyrics though. Couldn’t understand a thing other than ‘I cant hold it’ and FO.‘Tu Gandi Lagti Hai’ is class. Önly a bong could have conjured up ‘Tu tali si machi lagti hai’. A real trippy song.Off course the title song is in a league of its own.‘Tainu Tv Pe Vekhya’ has some funny lyrics, a good track. On the whole an excellent album and the bonus tracks are an icing.

No offence but the title song in promos really gets to nerves!! Bizzare in one word!! Very irritating just like the movie title. After reading the post, I will try to listen to entire soundtrack!! Btw movie looks very jaded and again bizzare from promos!!
But I must admit, all of Dibakar’s movies so far looked this bad to me (i.e. avoid at all cost type). But in the end they turned out amazing! Hope the same will be teh case with LSD.

I often claim to my friends how I can’t stand to play a song more than a couple times no matter how much I like it. Very rarely do I lat it repeat. This album’s been played an average per song of 5 times on my itunes within 24 hours of getting it! The same thing happened when I first heard the OLLO soundtrack.

Hey Magik, my opinion is, there is no way the music can be compared to Amit Trivedi’s work in DevD. Whether the lyrics, the music and the whole movie is a sensationalist effort remains to be seen. DevD had tremendous integrity and was an honest movie. Would like to see this movie being the same, but for now, I have my doubts. Personally feel the album is all lyrics, the music element of a music album is majorly missing (I liked Na batati tu, LSD remix and Can’t hold it and totally disliked Gandi achhi, pathetic waste of lyrics. The lyrics had it in it to be a sensational song but the music killed it.)

Magik, when we appreciate someone’s review, what do we appreciate about them? The fact that whatever we read is true? Or that we hold the same opinion (almost exactly) as the writer?
On both grounds, my friend, I loved the review!
I had my heart in my mouth thinking if Khanwalkar can live up to the expectations after raising them sky-high from OLLO music. And boy, she delivered! I wont compare LSD’s music with OLLO’s for the same reason as one shouldn’t compare Delhi 6′s music with Dil Se’s.
Absolutely with you on what u say about ‘Tu Gandi’ and “Cant Wait’… Cant Wait, especially sounds like Alicia Keyz’s vocals on a Rajasthani Puppet Show song! I wished u had mentioned something about ‘Tenu TV Pe Dekhya’ and ‘Mohabbat Bollywood Style’… these songs made me laugh out loud!!
Here’s wishing Sneha Khanwalkar a wide range of listeners…or atleast avid listeners like us!
P.S: I have Jugni, Tu raja ki raj dulari, Hooriyan AND superchor since Nov ’08!

You could say that the song dint work 4 u..But plz lets not compare it with Hum hain rahi pyar ke…
Hum hai rahi is a whole-hearted lovable tribute to bollywood romantic songs while Mohabbat Bollywood Style just makes fun of them!
“Isliye to abhi mandolin baj raha hai. Aur ab dholak bajega….Lo, baj gaya!”
Classic!

The music in this case is most integral to the film. If heard individually..does not make sense at all let alone the lyrics.OLLO was far better. LSD music is more like fillers to grander things.
