The vehicle has a powerful horizontally opposed, 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers a power of 120 PS at 5600rpm and generates a torque of 178 Nm @ 3600 rpm. The horizontally opposed boxer engine of Forester enables the vehicle to have a low center of gravity power.

Safety features incorporated in the car include SRS driver & co-driver air bags, anti-lock braking system, high mounted stop lampfront & rear outboard height adjustable seat belts, rear door child safety lock, drop-off type pedals with safety system, , side protection beams in doors, child seat mounting provisions etc.
