An optimistic and pleasing article
by divya on Jun 18, 2007 09:28 PM

Dear Mr. Ninan,

This article is quite interesting and figurative if we consider the positive aspects of India's development today..... with respect to the developed countries of the world.
But one thing, I would like to tell-you should write some articles on the existing problems in India hindering its overall growth and development.........

Regards........

by hemant chaudhary on Feb 10, 2007 12:46 AM

But not ur mistake mr. Ninan we Indians are like that only see flowery picture and be happy.
Although nice analysis.

a good macro view....
by Rahul Rahu on Jan 13, 2007 11:36 PM

quite an interesting analysis , and is well presented with figures.Am impressed.

Felt a small void though. The strong affinity for education...better education...is a prevailing trend. Infact ,roughly can be said as a base for all other trends.

if you ever have time and energy please publish something abt this aspect too.

Six mega-trends that define India's future
by Snm India Headquarters on Jan 13, 2007 11:28 PM

Mr Ninan has not mentioned the seventh one.

Sharp fall in the Human Values is the seventh. It is falling at an alarming rate & the rate at which our materialistic thinking is progressing is inversely proportional to the human values & directly proportional to the arrogance & lack of concern towards others amongst our youths.

Ninan - your articles are worth waiting for
by Iype J on Jan 11, 2007 04:42 PM

Brilliant! As optimistic as they come...There are several other areas where India can be said to be unique. And, I particularly liked the tongue-in-cheek about our present politicians. You can rest assured that they will be history in the next elections. Why? That is another story....for another day...but it will be true...

Six mega-trends that define India's future
by Nikhil Kumar on Jan 07, 2007 05:57 PM

Re.: #4:
Resolving the emerging resource crisis will be a global drive towards innovation. This will drive the creation of alternative resources over the next decade. And this may occur through controlled projects or organic innovation
Also, I read that the government had indicated an increase in forest cover this year - indicating that environmental recovery is underway and will occur.
The impact of global warming does not seem to be in anyone's calculus - but it is a natural phenomenon and will probably follow an exponential evolution as most natural phenonemon do and may be driven by issues out of our control.
Re.: #5:
We do not seem to have factored in the impact of the outside world's involvement in India. Both through education (a number of coutries are sending students at all levels to study in India), and by working in India of foreigners, there will be exposure to the general Indian public of the outside world. The real deal will be when we start following an open immigration policy like the US, which will significantly drive innovation and a pluralistic society.
Re. #6: Far into the future we will need to deal with aging populations.
Cheers

Well written , different article
by Jyostna on Jan 06, 2007 09:19 PM

Hi Ninan Sir,

I am based out of US, but I have been following your articles for almost 5 years from the time I was in Bombay.

This article could be fodder for any investment specific research especially for the Wall Street Hedge Funds who look for newer avenues to increase their exposure. I know they already have a good indirect presence in the Indian real-estate market.

Keep writing such articles, one article of yours is worth many we read on MckinseyQtrly or HBR.

thanks
Jyo
