ripple in Bangalore'causes no ripple, bright sunshine on Tuesday after the drop in ripple in Bangalore, 2010

The bright sunshine on Tuesday after the drop in mercury level experienced during the previous two days brought some respite to Bangaloreans from the cyclonic storm ‘Jal’.

According to weathermen, the system has now become a well-marked low pressure area. It has moved westwards and now lies over east-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka-Goa coast. It would concentrate into a deep depression in the forthcoming days.

B Puttana, director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bangalore said that presently, the system is still, but once it moves to the seaside it will become more powerful and develop into a deep depression. If the system intensifies, it will be over the oceanic area resulting in heavy rainfall over coastal Karnataka and other parts of the state in the next 24 hours. The warning issued on November 4, still persists across the state, said Puttana.

Due to the current status, the system is towards the north which will get more rain in coastal Karnataka. Other places of south-interior Karnataka, including Bangalore, will get moderate rainfall, he said.

Puttana said that the temperature in Bangalore would rise to near normal up to 26 degree Celsius. The normal temperature is 27 degree Celsius. Puttanna pointed that if the temperature rises and winds blow from the north, there will be no rainfall.

But if the winds blow from the south-east to south India when the temperatures are high, heavy rainfall will occur as the winds carry moisture with them.

The city on Tuesday recorded a maximum of 26.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 19.3 degree Celsius. A maximum of 26 degree Celsius and a minimum of 18.5 degree Celsius were recorded at HAL airport. No rainfall was recorded in the city till 5.30 pm on Tuesday.
