'Sources said while Jagan would launch his new political party by mid-February, he would utilize the deeksha and other protest programmes to build up the mass base among the farmers, who formed a major chunk of YSR's support base in the state. "That Jagan is sparing no efforts to woo the ryots is to state the obvious. He knows their support is vital for his political growth in the state," an analyst said.


'Jagan, who is touring his home district of Kadapa, will reach here in the early hours of Tuesday from Nandyal by Prasanthi Express. He will kickstart his 'deeksha' around 8 am at the specially erected dais on the banks of the Krishna at Seethamma Padalu area. Sources said the 'Laksha deeksha' is the first step of Jagan to come closer to the farming community, before taking up the final battle of general elections.

.The nearly 10-acre land has been given a new look to accommodate nearly one lakh people, who are expected to take part in the fast along with the young leader. The venue has been named 'YSR Deeksha Pranganam' where massive pandals are erected. Key aides of Jagan, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Ambati Rambabu and Y V Subbareddy are overseeing the arrangements for Jagan's first political battle after he quit the Congress as well as Lok Sabha last month. The organisers have put up a massive hoarding of late CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy near the dais, while the other end is covered with a picture of Jagan visiting the fields. A huge banner carrying the slogan of "Methuku muttam-madama tippam" (Won't touch food-won't go back) in an obvious reference that their leader would be on fast till the government accepts the demands of the farmers is prominently visible. Another dais to provide seating for more than 300 leaders is also erected.
