Telangana disrupts the After JPC, the Lok Sabha. Congress' Telangana , 2011

Congress' Telangana troubles seem to have resurfaced. The Lok Sabha was repeatedly disrupted on Wednesday when Congress MPs from Telangana staged intense protests. In Andhra Pradesh, a bandh called by pro-Telangana parties paralysed services in the state. Congress may be forced to take a decision soon as it’s embarrassed by the disruptions by its own MPs. This comes after it’s frequent accusations of BJP washing out the winter session.

A worried congress leadership met these Congress MPs. Prime Minister and Pranab Mukherjee assured them of quick decision soon and promised a meeting after the budget is presented.

It’s not just the defiance in Delhi which is worrying the party. Life in Andhra almost came to a standstill as a bandh called in support of Telangana caused closure of shops, schools with the TRS being in the forefront.
The peace seen in parliament on Tuesday after the Prime Minister announced JPC was shattered on Wednesday when Telangana supporters, mainly from the Congress, forced repeated adjournments. Their demand is a quick decision on Telangana or else they would quit.“If no statement is made on Telangana, we will resign here rather than going empty handed to Hyderabad. The statement should be specific,” said Manda Jagannathan, MP, Congress.

“People of Telangana are seeking that the UPA government lives up to the promise it made to the people and meets the aspirations of the people. If the Government doesn’t come forward, we will continue to stall the house in Andhra legislative assembly and in the Parliament,” said KT Rao, Leader, Telangana Rajya Samiti (TRS).

Seeing the temper of the protestors the Congress leadership knows that it cannot put off a decision for long.
