6th Nov, 2010: East Godavari District Collector Ravi Chandra on Saturday directed officials to take rescue and relief measures in the submerged areas at Pallepalem in Antharvedi mandal in the district.
Talking to media persons, Ravi Chandra said that efforts are on to clear the sea water which submerged adjoining coastal areas in the district following high winds due to the super cyclone Jal.
The collector stated that the sea water has entered houses in Pallepalem in Antharvedi mandal. However, there are no reports of any human casualties.
A few houses were partially damaged, and officials are yet to estimate the crop and property loss in Antharvedi.
Officials are making arrangements to shift the people staying in low-lying areas to safer places.
The collector directed officials to shift the flood-affected people to relief camps set up in the district.
